Chapter 1 – Why YES?

Many young Eritreans in the diaspora carry within them a mix of hope, pain, responsibility, and a desire for unity. YES emerged from the need not only to talk about problems, but to build structures that promote education, cohesion, and democratic values.

YES stands for Young Eritrean Generation Movement Society. The movement considers itself politically independent, democratically oriented, and committed to the public good.

Chapter 5 – The Diaspora: Cohesion as a Strategy

For the diaspora to be effective, the following are required:

Unity within the diaspora (regardless of religion, region, language, or political past)Clear demands (rule of law, release of political prisoners, end to indefinite national service, freedom of the press and religion)Youth and education (political education, media literacy, leadership, safe spaces for discussion)International engagement (UN/EU/parliaments/media—in a visible, substantive, and sustained manner)Peaceful transition (dialogue, transitional system, constitution, free elections, reconciliation)Economic future (reforms, jobs, transparency, prospects)

In short:

Appendix A – Constitution (Draft)Article 1 Name and HeadquartersThe club bears the name “YES – Young Eritrean Generation Movement Society.”The Society’s headquarters are in the diaspora (specifically: [insert city/country]).The Society is politically independent and operates democratically and in the public interest.Article 2: Purpose of the Association (Diaspora Version)

The Society seeks to achieve the following objectives:

Amendments require a two-thirds majority of the members present.

In the event of dissolution, the assets shall be transferred to a non-profit organization with similar objectives.

Appendix B – Code of Conduct (Draft)

It is important for an organization such as YES to have a clear Code of Conduct.

§1 Principle of Respect

All members shall treat one another with respect, dignity, and fairness. Discrimination, insults, defamation, hate speech, and bullying are prohibited.

In the event of repeated or serious violations, the Board of Directors may decide on immediate expulsion.

YES for Solidarity – Working together instead of against one another. YES for Youth – Young people are the builders of the future. YES for Peace – Resolving conflicts through dialogue and cooperation. YES for a Social Eritrea – Education, jobs, and opportunities for all.

Vision Statement

We say YES to an Eritrea where all people can live freely, equally, and with dignity. Without hatred, without racism, without division. Together for freedom, justice, and a better future.
